Talk about a blast from the past. Razor, the company that helped kick off the kick-scooter craze at the turn of the century, has unveiled an all-electric version of its classic model. Aside from going green, the Razor Icon caters to adults. It’s a smart move to cash in on the nostalgia of scooting around the suburbs.
“The Razor Icon allows adult fans to experience all the joys of the early 2000s again, but with the ability to cruise around the neighborhood with a grown-up style and feel.”
Given that the Razor Icon is geared towards adults who want to be kids again, it’s one of the more powerful models. The Icon packs a 36V lithium-ion battery connected to a 350-watt motor. That promises a range of 18 miles and a top speed of 18 mph. The e-scooter is thin and light and will sell for under $1000. That is, if it manages to hit its Kickstarter goal, with early birds able to pick up a model for just $549.

Razor had recently announced another off-road e-scooter, developed with Jeep, for just under $500. Compared to that one, the Razor Icon certainly goes faster and farther. It also comes in five different colors: orange, blue, red, pink, and black. If you choose to buy one, expect it to ship in August 2022, just in time for some summer cruising.
