Bugatti unveiled their first EV today, and to the surprise of many, it wasn’t some modern electric hypercar. Instead, it’s a simple yet sleek-looking electric scooter.

The 35-pound, foldable scooter is made of magnesium alloy and is said to be “aerodynamic yet functional.”
Riders can reach a top speed of 30 km/h thanks to its 700W motor. Electric charge comes from a 36 volt, 10Ah battery that will give it about a 35 km of range. All you need is a standard wall outlet to recharge the battery in roughly four hours.
The name “‘Bugatti’ brings with it some expectations of luxury, and the scooter, therefore, has some added features you wouldn’t normally find. For example, there’s a projected “EB” logo behind the back wheel to show off the brand name.
Sidelights emit downwards from the deck, creating a field of light below the scooter as it soars down the street. You’ll also find a large LED screen that displays the speed, riding mode, battery life, and light status.
Safety features include turn signals, a headlight and a taillight. In addition, riders will have three colours to choose from; blue, silver, or black.

There’s no word yet on when the scooter will be available or what its price will be. However, based on the brand name alone, it’s probably safe to say it will cost more than other run-of-the-mill e-scooters.
That being said, many should be able to afford their very first Bugatti – even if it only has two wheels.
