Swagtron NG-3 Swagskate Electric Skateboard
From the black and yellow color scheme to the graffiti on the deck that looks like Doctor Doom’s mask, it’s easy to know why Swagtron NG-3 Swagskate is one of the best-selling electric skateboards for kids. Besides the cool aesthetics, your kid can ride it without a remote control.
Another thing: the Swagtron NG-3 Swagskate is designed with intelligent motion sensors that will detect when your kid is standing on the board. That means it will stop automatically once your kid gets off the deck. Similarly, if your kid wants to accelerate or slow down, it can be easily controlled using a kick.

The battery range should cover 4 to 6 miles, but you can recharge it in less than two hours. It also weighs about 7.7 pounds which shouldn’t be too heavy for most kids to carry. Don’t worry, it doesn’t go too fast for most kids — 9.3 mph is more than enough.
However, this electric skateboard is not designed for off-road skating.

If you can’t decide whether you should get your kid an electric skateboard or a scooter, this would be a good option. The Hover-1 Switch is basically an electric skateboard for kids that can be converted into an e-scooter. The best part about it is that you don’t need tools to install or remove the scooter handlebar.
What’s more, it comes with a wireless remote control that is not too complicated for most kids. If you convert it to an e-scooter, you can click the remote control into the handlebar so you don’t get distracted. Throw in the LED lights, adjustable scooter height, and IPX4 water resistance rating to get a full picture of what we’re talking about.

Quite impressively, it can support a maximum weight of up to 220 pounds; that is perfect for most kids from 9 years to 18 years. The wireless remote control makes it easier for your kid to learn since you can adjust the speed at different levels.
Unfortunately, this RazorX electric skateboard is fragile because of the maple wood material. Then again, this is one of the cheapest electric skateboards for kids, so don’t expect it to last for a decade.

Not to mention, it’s designed with regenerative braking that helps the battery to conserve energy.
Since most parents don’t want their kids having a hard time holding the remote, it comes with an ergonomic remote control for a tight grip. In fact, it has one of the best remote controls for beginners we’ve seen so far; it features four riding modes, four braking modes, and a reversal button.
Despite having a better than average motor, we’re disappointed that you only get six miles of range.

Backfire G2 Black Electric Skateboard
How about an electric skateboard for kids who want to ride through dirt, grass, gravel, and rough roads? It can also climb hills with 30% inclination; all credits go to the two 400-watt motors under the deck of the Backfire G2.
If that doesn’t convince you, it’s fitted with a 178Wh lithium battery that should cover about 12 miles of range; that’s if your kid doesn’t weigh more than 176 pounds. Moreover, the battery is sealed with ABS plastic to shield it from dust and water.
Another cool thing about this electric skateboard is the LCD remote control that gives you all the stats about the range, speed, and battery. However, we think this skateboard is too fast for kids younger than 15 years.

Under the deck, you get a 350-watt hub motor that’s quieter than a typical belt-driven motor. The maximum speed is about 19 mph, and you get a battery range of between 6 to 10 miles per charge. Better yet, it’s possible for your kid to ride the skateboard without a battery.

Backfire Zealot Electric Skateboard
If you have a teenager who loves to skate off-road and climb hills, the Backfire Zealot Electric skateboard would be a solid option. For starters, it can climb a hill with a 30% gradient without slowing down. Besides that, if you want to ride on rough roads, you could switch to a different set of bigger tires; although they need to be purchased separately.
But that’s not all; it’s engineered with two belt-driven motors with a combined power of 1500 watts; this makes it the most powerful electric skateboard on our guide. It’s also the fastest so far with a turbo mode that takes the speed up to 28 mph. Not to forget, the battery range is exceptional considering it can cover up to 22 miles after a recharge.

Unfortunately, we wouldn’t recommend this electric skateboard for kids younger than 15 years because it’s too fast. Even if your teenage kid is 15 years and above, this wouldn’t be recommended if he/she is a new rider. However, it would be a suitable upgrade for a teenager who is experienced on an electric skateboard.

Wolf Phoenix Ryders Electric Skateboard
Surprisingly, this electric skateboard uses a 250-watt hub motor, but it can deliver a maximum speed of 16 mph. We’ve seen skateboards with more power than this but with a much lower speed. Since a maximum speed of 16 mph is dangerous for most kids, the remote control allows you to limit the top speed to 9 mph.
The deck is made up of six layers of maple wood and one layer of bamboo that makes it lightweight and sturdy with a maximum weight capacity of 220 pounds. Another cool thing is the battery doesn’t add too much weight, and most 12 to 15-year-old kids wouldn’t have a problem carrying it around.

But if you want a skateboard for an experienced teenager, you should consider the Blitzart Hurricane Electric Skateboard or Backfire Zealot Electric Skateboard.
