After teasing a new electric motorcycle last week, Harley-Davidson and their sub-company LiveWire have revealed the S2 Del Mar. A middleweight bike built for urban riding and under $18,000, the Launch Edition of the new EV sold out in under 18 minutes.
The S2 Del Mar is the second electric motorcycle from LiveWire. Utilizing the new Arrow architecture, the bike has a 60 kW motor capable of accelerating from zero to 60 mph in under four seconds. The Arrow platform will serve as a modular foundation for future electric motorcycle models from the company.
You’ll notice right away that the Arrow structural battery case pretty much replaces the traditional motorcycle frame. That reduces a lot of weight. But LiveWire went one step further and combined a handful of components, including the inverter and onboard charger, into a single unit mounted to the outside of the battery case. The whole machine weighs around 420 lbs, nearly 25% lighter than the LiveWire One.

The companies didn’t say how large the battery would be, but they target a range of 100 miles on a single charge. The Del Mar includes built-in GPS and cellular connectivity, allowing over-the-air updates and new software features. The bike itself will ride on 19-inch wheels wrapped in tires suited for both on— and off-road exploration.
The first 100 Del Mar Launch Edition models sold out almost immediately, but you can still pre-order the reproduction model for $15,000. That one is estimated to release in Spring 2023. Additionally, the companies teased that an S3 model is already in the works. We guess that it will be a lightweight motorcycle with an even lighter price tag.
