Camping just got a whole lot smarter and greener with eStream.
Thor industries revealed its new electric Airstream concept, bringing RVs into the twenty-first century. Thanks to an electric drive axle, the latest travel trailer pushes itself forward, eliminating range penalties on EV tow vehicles and improving fuel economy for standard haulers.

But perhaps the most impressive and user-friendly feature is its ability to park itself. That’s right, using an Airstream developed app, you can remotely park the eStream RV without a tow vehicle. So say goodbye to stressful campsite arguments over parking maneuvers between the trees.
Watch in awe for yourself in this launch video.
The technology we co-developed (with ZF) creates a synchronized relationship between the trailer and the tow vehicle, enabling the trailer to move in harmony with the tow vehicle, reducing the pulling effect required from the tow vehicle. This, in turn, dramatically improves the possible range of the combination. In essence, we’ve turned the trailer into an electric vehicle.

In the launch video, you’ll notice Amazon’s Alexa app, setting some mood lighting and reading off Airstream stats. Thor is also planning a new trip planning app to complement its electric RVs, helping drivers find high-speed charging stations and avoid idle time. It will also help those on road trips plot sight-seeing spots along their route.
There’s currently no pricing available for the eStream RV, but the technical features are certainly above and beyond anything else on the market right now. As a result, Thor has a solid headstart to dominate the electrification of RVs, and we can’t be more excited.
