Placing an order for 100,000 Teslas earlier this morning, car rental company Hertz is now on the path to lineup-wide electrification. Hertz is also launching its new “Hertz, Let’s Go” campaign, emphasizing how quickly customers can access a rental Tesla.

The company aims to have the entire Tesla order completed and delivered by the end of 2022.

Now, this is not the single largest EV order. Two years ago, Amazon CEO Jeff Bezos revealed that his company purchased 100,000 electric Amazon delivery vehicles from Rivian.

That said, Hertz has taken the trophy for the largest Tesla order to date. Add to it the fact that, according to Bloomberg, Hertz is paying list prices for each one of those Tesla vehicles, and the magnitude of this deal starts to become apparent.

“Electric vehicles are now mainstream, and we’ve only just begun to see rising global demand and interest. The new Hertz is going to lead the way as a mobility company, starting with the largest EV rental fleet in North America and a commitment to grow our EV fleet and provide the best rental and recharging experience for leisure and business customers around the world.”

Mark Fields, Interim CEO, Hertz

Hertz is also committing to installing thousands of EV chargers throughout its location network. In the US and Europe alone, they will have 3,000 Tesla Supercharger stations.

Starting in November, Hertz customers all over the US and Europe will be able to rent a Tesla Model 3 at its neighborhood and airport locations. Additionally, there will be a digitized guidance system to inform customers about the Tesla to get them going quickly.

Let’s Go!

Hertz has partnered up with professional football player Tom Brady to promote their EV rental fleet.

The ad campaign is called “Hertz, Let’s Go,” and features Tom Brady in a series of different situations. All of them end with the football star uttering the phrase “let’s go!”

Tom Brady himself is a massive advocate of the electric vehicle movement. In today’s Hertz press release, he said “I’ve been driving an EV for years, and knowing Hertz is leading the way with their electric fleet speaks to how the world is changing and the way companies are approaching being environmentally and socially conscious. I’ve always loved how easy and convenient Hertz makes it for me when I’m traveling to my favorite places like New York, LA, and Tampa and can’t wait to see what they continue to have in store.”

If you are interested in renting a Tesla from Hertz, you will soon have the opportunity to do so. Make sure to check out Hertz’s webpage for more details on how to reserve your next Tesla rental.
